Never Say Never

Wahhh! I joined Facebook. Fine, laugh all you want.

The only reason I joined is because I felt I was losing my community of mothers that I was used to keeping up with on another website. Seems like they've been backing away from being as active on this other website, and I miss them. I want to keep up with them and what's happening in their lives.

Right now I find FB to be totally confusing. I'm sure I'll get used to it. But right now it is a little scary. If you are on FB and friend me, be gentle?

Sigh.

I see pink cats!

So I came across my cat just lounging in the laundry basket and did a double-take. No, I wasn't high on acid but my cat was now pink and blue! Then I remembered the chalk art outside...

Chalk Art

Yesterday the Urban Shaman took Il Tonino outside to play. We have sidewalk chalk and Urban Shaman got inspired and drew all over our patio. Totally reminds me of the book The Cosmic Serpent (which I loved). Il Tonino thought it was great fun to follow the snake from head to tail and back.

Now I kind of hope it rains soon because I have no idea how to explain this to my parents, lol.

I'm not getting paid to do the laundry

Okay, it's been way too long... I don't mean to neglect this blog. I've just had other things occupying my mind, and plus the amount of work (work as in my job) has increased. Now that I'm working from home full-time, there is more of a need to ensure that I fulfill my required 24 billable hours per week. As in, before, I would travel, and that would easily give me 8-12 hours of billable time. But now? My billable time is measured in the number of reports I can review in a given amount of time. And sometimes laundry distracts me. Or the need to pick up random pairs of male socks that are strewn about the house. I think taking off your socks and leaving them wherever you want must be a genetic thing, because both Urban Shaman and Il Tonino do that. Although the husband has gotten better about that ever since I once joked to him that the socks had a better sex life than we did because they seemed to reproduce like rabbits since I was finding them all over the house.

Anyway... today is Sunday and I need to do some work today. To get in a few more billable hours before I complete and submit my timesheet tomorrow. All in all this is not a bad thing, but I need to learn to leave the laundry alone sometimes (what? I like doing laundry!). And the socks.

Couldn't Put it Down

Umm, okay, I'm back. I finished the book in 2 days flat. And it was 400 pages, not 300. So, so good. Left me breathless yet satisfied in the end. Now book 2 of the trilogy is on hold for me at the library, we will see when it is ready for me...

In the meantime, it is good I don't have the second book so that I can tackle the 3 loads of laundry, vacuuming, meal-making, etc. that were put on hold these last 2 days!

I'll be back after 300 pages...

Excuse me for awhile... I have my nose buried in another Juliette Marillier book, this time the first of the Sevenwaters Trilogy. I waited 2 months for this book from the library! Now that it is here I don't want to put it down. Yesterday I drank a small cup of caffeinated mocha, and wasn't able to sleep until after midnight. That was just fine with me as it gave me the opportunity to read!

I love fantasy books. The Hobbit, Lord of the Rings Trilogy, Harry Potter series, The Chronicles of Narnia, and the Wrinkle in Time books all hold a special place in my heart.

Then I found Marillier's books, and I am in book heaven again.
