Infusion Mania

Urban Shaman and I met and now have a great relationship with the Queen of Tea and have been enjoying nourishing herbal infusions ever since. At the same time, we have started a correspondence course with Susun Weed and have begun a wonderful in-depth study of herbs and their uses. So now we are starting to better understand individual herbs, their properties, tastes, smells, uses, etc. In addition to drinking Maude's infusions, we make our own, so it seems that we are never drinking plain water anymore these days! I love it because it is so easy for me to drink lots of water via infusions, than it is to force myself to drink plain water.

One of my favorite infusions I make myself is red clover with just a bit of peppermint. Red clover, in addition to being a fertility promoter, is also a great anti-cancer ally. We love its light floral taste and the way we feel energized after drinking it. Indeed, neither one of us have ever felt so much energy (especially in the winter months!) as we have had since drinking infusions daily. I highly recommend it.

Another one I like is plain oatstraw infusion. It has a very light taste that reminds me of hay, but I quickly get used to that and enjoy how refreshing it is. It is especially good to drink with a meal as it helps clear your palate without taking away from the tastes of your food.

Nettle is very good to drink, but it has a very strong, earthy taste. I have a hard time with nettles and prefer it mixed with other herbs to better mask the taste.

Pretty soon I'll be trying comfrey leaf infusion, and as part of our coursework we will be drinking it daily for 30 days. That will be a fun experiment.

Next time you are over at our house, I will give you a cup of nourishing infusion, you'll just have to be surprised by what I happen to have that day, whether it is from Maude or something simple of my own making :)
