I love facebook. I hate facebook. He loves me. He loves me not. Argh.
I love facebook because of the connection I have with my mama community, since we moved there from another forum. I wouldn't give up those connections for the world.
What I hate is having to "connect" with other people, some of whom I would really rather not connect with. I understand that many people think that FB is a great networking tool, and great for getting you in touch with people that you've lost touch with, but some people I don't want to reconnect with.
Take my old neighbor/pseudo 8th grade boyfriend. Umm... no.
Or this guy that the husband and I used to hang out with and smoke pot with all the time, pre-baby days, and who eventually pissed me off by starting to live/sleep on my couch and eat second/third helpings of the food I cooked without thanking me. I haven't spoken with him in about 4 years. He's sent me 3 friend requests, and when I denied them all, he sent me a message asking if I remember him (he uses a fake name on FB that I do know).
How do I respond to that without seeming like a jerk?
I don't know why, but I don't feel the need or the want to share my FB life with everyone and anyone whom I happen to have met at some point in my life. Or never have met but just know through the internets. It's just such a sticky line.
Maybe it's because I feel particularly vulnerable at this time in my life, and want to keep things as close as possible.
I love me. I love me not.

Never Say Never
Wahhh! I joined Facebook. Fine, laugh all you want.
The only reason I joined is because I felt I was losing my community of mothers that I was used to keeping up with on another website. Seems like they've been backing away from being as active on this other website, and I miss them. I want to keep up with them and what's happening in their lives.
Right now I find FB to be totally confusing. I'm sure I'll get used to it. But right now it is a little scary. If you are on FB and friend me, be gentle?
Sigh.

No! You Can't Make Me!
Is Facebook replacing blogging? I swear, everyday I discover at least one more person that I know has an account on FB. And I hear a lot about this whole "friend" thing, both the positives and the annoyances.
I have resisted opening a FB account for awhile, and am continuing to resist. For some reason, it just sounds like more trouble than it is worth. I never had a My Space account, either. Am I just already old-fashioned?
Thankfully, I'm using the buddy system for not getting on FB crack. My good friend S. and I have agreed that if one of us gets an account, the other one must get one, too. Since neither one of us wants one, this is a good reverse psychology type way to keep both of us away from it. I think?
And yes, you can laugh at me all you want if I get a FB account. Because I'm not getting one.
